What I've Been Reading Instead of Cleaning My House

I've found a new love...

I've found a new love -- it's NPR's "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" radio news quiz show.

I guess this program has been on for the past 10 years, but I just discovered it. I'm not much of a radio listener, but I saw a story about it on TV (oh wonderful TV, is there anything you can't do?).

It's funny, it's topical, it's witty, but best of all it makes my job of watching the news worthwhile.

I love that show, I always download the podcast for free.

You don't even have to had an iPod for the podcast, just download iTunes and go to their Podcast section. You can subscribe to Wait, Wait, as well as This American Life, Fresh Air, just about any program currently on the air. I can't recommend Wait, Wait more highly for getting housework done.

To follow Azucar's comment; Car Talk and The Splendid Table really get me cleaning. (I swear you don't even have to like cars or cooking, they're that good!)

Azucar, thanks for the tip about the podcast...I'm going to have to check that out!

I saw the same story, Lois, and it made me want to check it out, too! You must be much more up on the NPR schedule than I, though. ;)

I spend hours acquiring my NPR voice, you know, in case I ever get my most desired job hosting a classical show.

You have the best job.

AZUCAR -- I must admit that I listen to it while doing payroll at work (SuziQ, you didn't hear that!).

GRITTY PRETTY -- I sometimes catch the end of "Car Talk" and it is really funny. I never heard of "Splendid Table." I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up!

SUZIQ -- I must admit that Paula Poundstone is my favorite panelist. I listen to the old shows and always pick one with her on it.

McMILLANS -- here's hoping you get that classical music gig!

I found it today and listened while I did production...I had a hard time not laughing out loud! I can only imagine the looks I would have gotten.

I listened to one with Craig Ferguson as the guest, and Dave Barry, and Gwen Ifill - which was funny to me just because we see so much of her Sunday mornings. :) And Paula Poundstone was a funny panelist - though I didn't get to hear all of the one she was on.

I'm glad you blogged about this. I'll listen all the time while I do production now! LOL

My hubby loves NPR, through I must admit I'm not such a big fan. I'm mostly stuck listening to it in the car with him (I prefer some tunes). But I endure Car Talk. I don't think I've heard Wait wait...don't tell me! I'll have to ask hubby about it.

SUZIQ -- oh, that must've been the 10 year anniversary best of episode. That's a really good one. Yeah, I know people are staring at me and wondering, 'Gee, I didn't know "Osgood File" was so funny' when I'm listening to it.

RENA -- I can see him totally digging "Car Talk." What? You don't spend your time forced to listen to Radio Disney like I do?

I love Car Talk and The Splendid Table, oh yes indeedy!

Wait Wait was in town last year, but since Other Half isn't an NPR junkie like I am, I didn't have anyone to go with--next time I know I can just ask any of you!

They were here? How exciting. I'll have to check out "The Splendid Table" one of these days.
