What I've Been Reading Instead of Cleaning My House

Holy Guacamole!

I LOVE avocados.

Growing up, I would just go to my friend's house and pick them off her tree. Rena and I would cut them in half, take out the pit, sprinkle some salt on them and just spoon out the creamy flesh. Mmm.

Now I'm horrified by the cost of them in the grocery store. What? I have to BUY avocados? And they're either rock hard or so mushy you can almost drink them.

When I go to a restaurant, I base my order on what entree has avocado in it. "Dog brains with gasoline sauce? That sounds horri--oh, there's avocado in it? I'll take that."

My doctor is always amazed by how high my HDL levels are (that's the GOOD cholesterol). I'm telling you, it's that all avocado diet.

That tree in Lehi's dream? I'm pretty sure those were albino avocados.

Pink! Very nice.

Amen, Sista lois! I believe avacado is the fruit of the gods. I buy them EVERY week, regardless of the price, because a life without avacados in bleak indeed. I am however jealous that you ate them freshly picked from the tree. Maybe I don't even want to know what I'm missing.

Hey Lois:

I am totally with you on the Guac thing. When MA asks me what I want to go out and eat, it's Guac. I consider all of the cuisine of Mexico as a mere vehicle for the stuff. I, too, ate Avocados on the half shell as a child in CA, and I will not pay $1.49 for a mooshy green thing from Argentina. So bring on the rolled tacos, if you must, but slather them in the gooky nectar of the almighty.

LOL Dog Brains with gasoline sauce! hahaha That's great! Not sure I'd go THAT far for avacados, but I definately LOVE them too.
PS Spoonfuls of peanut butter... that's the snack of the Gods! LOL

I love avocados too. I think that we should all grow avocado trees in lieu of the whole GREEN movement. And since it is freezing where I live right now, they would always be green. How's that for taking care of the OZONE?

oh and that stuff you can buy in the store in a sealed bag that looks like green mucous...it's not really guac, I have tasted, and know, for sure without a doubt...it is not from avocados. That is the DOG brains you were referring to.

AMN2DEEP -- yes, pink for Valentine's day. Oh, I'm so festive.

ROB -- yes, I also base all food choices on the availability of sour cream, cheese and avocado on it.

BOUFMOM9 -- that's true, nothing beats spoonfuls of peanut butter.

XANA-DIVA-DELUX -- yes, I've been sucked in by the fake-a-mole, too.

I'm with you. Heavenly stuff! Mr. Geo and I still reminisce about the time when we were neighbors with the Denominators and the grocery store around the corner had that 10/$1 avocado sale. We stuffed ourselves, repeatedly. Avocado bliss. Avocado paradise.

When we were in El Paso over the weekend we happened to go into a grocery store on Saturday night and I saw the biggest avocados of my life. Huge! Gorgeous! I very nearly caved in and spent the three bucks for one, but I just couldn't quite do it. Even though it's been years since that insane sale, that still equates 30 avocados in my mind.

GEO -- yeah, that was a great market (especially walking into the refrigerated section on hot summer days). You'll have to tell me all about El Paso!
